The Dustless Blaster works by mixing water with the abrasive inside the blast vessel. This increases the mass of the abrasive, significantly reducing consumption and increasing productivity! Imagine throwing a wet handful of sand compared to a dry one. Which one would hit harder, and which one would make a bigger mess? After hitting the blast surface the media loses momentum, gets trapped in water and becomes grounded. This eliminates airborne particulates from the abrasive or the coating being removed! This often reduces or eliminates the need for containment, because it is mostly only water vapor that is traveling through the air.

By adding water we’re adding mass and energy, removing coatings faster and with less abrasive! The water traps the blast media and pulverized coating, and grounding it, preventing it from going into the air. This solves air quality issues, and allows other workers to work on the same vessel at the same time!

Dustless Blasting has proven ideal for the removal of paint or epoxy from aluminum vessels. Since aluminum is relatively soft compared to steel, traditional dry sand blasting can leave the metal too rough. The resulting overly aggressive profile must then be filled with extra layers of paint or epoxy. The water used in the Dustless process adds energy and increases productivity, while also producing a more ideal profile.
Because the water reduces friction and cools the metal, the risk of warping is removed, even for thinner areas of aluminum such as the wheelhouse.
